Misenheimer, NC - The 32nd-ranked N.C. Wesleyan men's tennis team continued its dominant run in USA South play with a commanding 7-0 sweep over Pfeiffer on Wednesday afternoon at the Knapp Tennis Center.
The Battling Bishops (7-8, 4-0 USA South) set the tone early by sweeping the doubles matches. At the No. 1 position, Luca Knese and Albert Sitwell cruised to a 6-1 victory, while Bernardo Messineo and Diego Segovia battled to a 7-5 win at No. 2. The tandem of Shori Nishizoe and Logan Stoltz outlasted the Falcons in a tiebreaker at No. 3, securing a 7-6(8) victory and clinching the doubles sweep.
In singles play, the Bishops carried the momentum into straight-set victories across all six matches. Segovia made quick work of Benedikt Pfeiffer at No. 1 singles with a 6-2, 6-2 triumph, while Knese dominated at No. 2 with a 6-2, 6-0 victory. Bohdan Zhylchuk (No. 3), Sitwell (No. 4), Nishizoe (No. 5), and Messineo (No. 6) each secured decisive wins to complete the sweep.
With the win, Wesleyan remains undefeated in USA South play and continues to build momentum as the regular season progresses.
