The NC Wesleyan men's tennis team faced a challenging road trip on February 20, squaring off against Division I opponents Wake Forest and North Carolina Central in a pair of tough matchups.
In the afternoon contest against North Carolina Central, the Bishops battled at Cary Tennis Park but fell 7-0. NC Wesleyan earned a strong performance at No. 1 doubles, as Adam Singleton and Ben Russell secured a 6-4 victory to highlight doubles play. Several singles matches featured competitive stretches, including a three-set battle at No. 5 where Largo Koch pushed his opponent before ultimately falling. Despite the final score, Wesleyan showed resilience across the lineup against a strong Eagles squad.
Later in the evening, the Bishops traveled to Winston-Salem to take on nationally ranked Wake Forest at the Wake Forest Tennis Center. Facing one of the top Division I programs in the country, NC Wesleyan competed hard but dropped a 7-0 decision. Wake Forest claimed the doubles point and continued its momentum into singles play. The Bishops continued to battle on every court, gaining valuable experience against high-level competition.
Although the results did not fall in their favor, NC Wesleyan's willingness to compete against strong Division I opponents demonstrates the program's commitment to growth and development. The experience gained from facing Wake Forest and North Carolina Central will serve the Bishops well as they move forward in the spring season.
