Wesleyan Moves On to USA South Championship with 4-0 Win

Rocky Mount, N.C. - The NC Wesleyan men's tennis team opened the USA South Conference Tournament in dominant fashion on April 24, sweeping Southern Virginia 4-0 at the Slick Family Foundation Tennis Center to advance to the championship match.

The Bishops took early control in doubles play, securing the doubles point with convincing wins at No. 2 and No. 3. Albert Sitwell and Julian Valverde earned a 6-0 victory at No. 2 doubles, while Brody Brice and Ben Russell followed with a 6-1 win at No. 3 to give Wesleyan the advantage.

NC Wesleyan carried that momentum into singles, quickly closing out the match by winning three courts in straight sets. Adam Singleton led the way at No. 1 singles with a dominant 6-0, 6-0 victory, while Indrek Raudkivi followed with a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 5. Alvaro Gomez sealed the match at No. 6 singles with a 6-1, 6-1 performance.

Several other matches were in progress when the match was decided, but the Bishops' depth and efficiency allowed them to secure the 4-0 sweep.

With the win, NC Wesleyan advances to the USA South Conference Championship, where the Bishops will face Methodist University with the title on the line.
