Abby Todd begins her professional career at North Carolina Wesleyan University as the Director of Sports Communications, stepping into the role during her first year with the Battling Bishops after previously representing the institution as a student-athlete. A familiar face on campus, Todd returns to her alma mater with a strong academic background, firsthand athletic experience, and a passion for collegiate sports communications.
Todd graduated from NC Wesleyan in 2023, earning dual bachelor’s degrees in Criminal Justice and Computer Information Systems, along with a minor in Cyber Crime. Her academic path reflects a unique blend of analytical thinking, technology, and communication—skills that translate directly into the evolving landscape of sports information and digital media. She continued her education at Wesleyan, completing her Master’s degree in Criminal Justice in 2024, further strengthening her leadership and organizational skill set.
During her undergraduate years, Todd was a member of the Battling Bishops softball program, where she played first base and was known for her work ethic and consistency. A native of Hertford, North Carolina, and a graduate of Perquimans High School, she balanced the demands of collegiate athletics with academic excellence. Her efforts in the classroom were recognized with President’s List honors in both the 2021 and 2022 academic years.
As Director of Sports Communications, Todd oversees all facets of athletic communications for NC Wesleyan’s intercollegiate programs. Her responsibilities include managing game statistics, coordinating media relations, maintaining athletic website content, producing recaps and features, and elevating the overall digital presence of Battling Bishops athletics. She also plays a key role in storytelling, ensuring that the accomplishments of Wesleyan’s student-athletes, coaches, and teams are accurately and effectively shared with the campus community and beyond.
Todd’s background as a former student-athlete provides her with a unique perspective in the role, allowing her to connect with current athletes while understanding the importance of timely, accurate, and professional coverage. Her experience in computer information systems and cyber crime also brings a modern, technical approach to data management, digital platforms, and content strategy.
