North Carolina Wesleyan football proudly welcomes Dominic Anderson as the program’s new defensive coordinator. A seasoned leader with more than a decade of coaching experience across multiple levels of football, Anderson brings a proven track record of success in defensive strategy, player development, and recruiting.
Anderson arrives in Rocky Mount after serving as the defensive coordinator and linebackers coach at Fayetteville State University, where he helped guide the Broncos to multiple CIAA Championships and consistently ranked among the top defensive units nationally. Under his leadership, Fayetteville State produced several All-Conference selections, including a CIAA Defensive Player of the Year, and achieved national recognition in categories such as scoring defense, total defense, and third-down conversion percentage.
A graduate of Wake Forest University, where he played both running back and defensive back on scholarship, Anderson also holds two master’s degrees — an MBA from the University of Pikeville and a Master of Science in Athletic Coaching from West Virginia University. His diverse background includes stops at Illinois State University, the University of St. Francis (IL), the University of Pikeville, and South Plantation High School, where he successfully turned around a struggling program as head coach.
Anderson has been recognized as a FootballScoop Division II Coach of the Year finalist and has participated in the prestigious Bill Walsh Diversity Coaching Fellowship with the Chicago Bears. Known for his high-energy approach, attention to detail, and passion for mentoring young men, he brings both expertise and enthusiasm to the Battling Bishop defense.
“Dom is a difference-maker,” said head coach Jeff Filkovski. “His knowledge of the game, leadership qualities, and ability to connect with and develop student-athletes will have an immediate impact on our program. We’re excited to welcome him to the Bishop family and look forward to the energy and experience he brings to our defensive unit.”
With a reputation for building elite defenses and recruiting high-character student-athletes, Anderson is poised to help elevate the Wesleyan football program to new heights.
