RaSool Clemons, a native of Newark, New Jersey, brings an accomplished playing background and several years of coaching experience to the sidelines.
Prior to joining the collegiate coaching ranks, Clemons spent more than five years at Midland Valley High School in Graniteville, South Carolina, serving as the defensive line coach from May 2021 through September 2026. During his time with the program, Midland Valley captured a Class 4A region championship and finished with a 12-1 record, the best mark in school history.
Clemons began his coaching career at South Aiken High School in Aiken, South Carolina, where he served as the junior varsity football coach and varsity assistant defensive line coach from 2020-21.
Throughout his coaching career, Clemons has helped develop several players who went on to compete at the collegiate level, including Ryon Gilmore at Limestone University, Jabez Oilphant at Prairie View A&M University, Leon Robinson at Erskine University, Jermae Freeman at Iowa Western Community College and Aaron Adams at Benedict College.
Before entering the coaching profession, Clemons put together an impressive collegiate playing career. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Social Science from Troy University after previously earning an Associate of Arts degree from East Mississippi Community College.
At Troy, Clemons competed at defensive end and helped the Trojans capture the 2017 Sun Belt Conference Championship. He was also recognized as the team’s Most Improved Player in 2018.
Prior to Troy, Clemons attended East Mississippi Community College, where he was part of the program’s 2016 state championship team. Coming out of the junior college ranks, Clemons was rated as the No. 16 junior college signee in the country and a four-star recruit by Rivals. He was also ranked as the No. 3 junior college weak-side defensive end and a three-star prospect by 247Sports. Clemons received scholarship offers from Texas A&M, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Iowa State, Southern Miss and Troy.
Clemons began building his reputation as a standout defensive player at South Aiken High School. He earned All-Region honors three times in 2012, 2013 and 2015, while also receiving the Defensive Trench Award in 2012 and Defensive MVP honors in 2013.
As a high school prospect, Clemons was rated as the No. 5 recruit in the state of South Carolina by 247Sports and ranked as the No. 20 defensive end in the country. His recruitment included offers from LSU, Florida State, Clemson, Kentucky, West Virginia, Ole Miss and Virginia.
Clemons also earned Defensive MVP honors at Border Bowl II, an all-star game featuring standout players from South Carolina and Georgia.
Clemons was born and raised in Newark, New Jersey, and celebrates his birthday on May 27.
