The N.C. Wesleyan Athletics is excited to welcome back 2019 alumnus Robert Wilson as its Assistant to the AD for Academic Intervention and Student-Athlete Support. In his role at NCWU, Wilson will work together with support services from across campus to serve student-athletes. A requirement will be weekly meetings with students, particularly focusing on academic success and strategies for first-year students. The position will additionally impact leadership opportunities and experiences to support student-athletes.
When asked about coming back to his alma mater Wilson stated, “It’s an honor and a privilege to return to North Carolina Wesleyan University. I am excited to grow professionally and to help develop current and future Bishops.”
In his time as a Battling Bishop, Wilson was a standout basketball student-athlete and was selected to the USA South All-Conference teams as a junior and a senior in 2018 and 2019. He was also an All-Academic Team selection in 2017, 2018 and 2019. Notably, he was a part of three USA South Regular season Championships in 2016, 2018 and 2019. Always a consistent and steady force for the Bishops, Wilson was always a team leader. Thompson added, “Robert was such an outstanding worker and role model when he was a player here. He can now share so much of what he has leaned, and I couldn’t be happier for everyone that he is going to influence.”
