Rocky Mount, N.C. - The N.C. Wesleyan men's soccer team hosted the 2016 Men's Soccer Fall Classic over the weekend, welcoming a trio of talented teams to Scalf Field. The Bishops, who fell to Randolph 1-0 on Saturday, bounced back for a 2-1 victory over Emory on Sunday.

Saturday's play began with Emory posting a 2-0 shutout of Methodist University. The Wildcats followed suit with a shutout of their own versus the Bishops, who actually held a 12-7 lead in shots and managed five shots-on-goal. RC keeper Graham Labran-Boyd stopped all five in net, helping an early Wildcat score (5') stand up.

On Sunday, it was Wesleyan and Emory playing the early match. After battling through a scoreless first half, EU (2-2) got on the board first with a goal in the 51st minute. NCWC sophomore Olafur Einarsson tied the match in the 69th when he took a touch from freshman Ryan Halliday and shot left of Boyd.

Senior Caetano Viegas made it 2-1 in the 82nd minute on an assist from junior Jordan Davis. Viegas' goal proved to be the gamewinner as Bishop keeper Alex Magner made the lead stand up with five saves on the day.

Randolph (2-1-1) and Methodist (0-2-1) proceeded to wrap up play with a 1-1 draw. The match was called with 1:41 to go in the first overtime due to lightning in the area.  With a record of 1-0-1 in the tournament, the Wildcats were awarded the 2016 classic trophy.

Wesleyan (2-3) continues play at Scalf Field on Wednesday when the Bishops host Guilford College at 2:00pm.
