Men's Soccer Records 5th Straight Shutout

STAUNTON, Va. - The NC Wesleyan College men's soccer team defeated conferene foe Mary Baldwin University 1-0 on the road for their 5th straight shutout on Saturday.

The men improve to 4-1-1 on the year as they remain unbeaten over their past 5 games.

The Bishops used a first half goal from senior forward Lorenzo Cocchia and stellar defense to hold off the Squirrels for the win. Cocchia's goal in the 27th minute came off a rebound of his own shot that was originally saved. It is Cocchia's second goal of the season.

Wesleyan did not allow even a single shot in the first half while outshooting MBU 11-0 in the first and 15-5 overall. Freshman goalkeeper Matteo Torchio finished with 4 saves on all 4 shots he faced while freshman midfielder Juan Simoniello led the Bishops with 5 shots overall.

The Bishops will return to action next Sunday when they come home to host Greensboro College at 2 PM.
