The Battling Bishop Volleyball Team traveled to Staunton, VA on Friday, October 7 to face the Fighting Squirrels of Mary Baldwin University. The Bishops earned their first conference sweep of the season, winning 25-15, 25-22, and 25-23.  

Senior outside hitter Aubrey Nicholson led the Bishop offense with 7 kills and a kill percentage of .412, followed by freshman Emily Foraker with 6 kills and a .417. Junior Sloan Martin added another 6 kills on the outside, followed by right-side hitter Desiree Walker with 5 kills. Senior setter Allison Wichrowski's 13 assists with Martin's 9 assists allowed the Bishops to outhit the Squirrels by 0.13.  

The Bishop defense showcased an improved blocking scheme, tallying 16 block assists for the match to shut down MBU's main threat. The back row was led by Kira Kristjanson with 9 digs, followed closely by Wichrowski with 8 digs. Martin added 6 digs and fifth-year Barrett Davis totaled 5 digs.  

NCWU will travel to Southern Virginia University on Saturday for two more conference matchups.
