Men's Soccer Improves to 3-0 in Conference Play with Win Over SVU

Box Score Buena Vista, VA - The N.C. Wesleyan men's soccer program secured a 3-1 victory over Southern Virginia to start off conference play 3-0. The win puts Wesleyan in first by one game over Methodist who is 2-0 to start conference action. The Battling Bishops would get a big goal off the foot of Leho Le Louarn in the 10th minute, which would end up being the only goal in the first period. The second half would have plenty of excitement if the first half lacked any. Osei Darko would literally score back to back goals for the Battling Bishops within one minute of one another to electrify Coach Bowman's squad. While the three goals would be enough against an extremely talented SVU squad, the team is not satisfied as every USA South contest from here on out is crucial.

Game Notes:
  • Darko's back-to-back goals would be the shortest span of time in between goals by a single player this season for Wesleyan. The two would be Darko's second and third goals of the season
  • Rafael Farina would play incredibly in goal, coming up with seven crucial saves, while only allowing one goal.

Up Next:
  • The road does not get any easier as Wesleyan welcomes Brevard to Scalf Field next Saturday for Homecoming. The matchup will be a rematch of the USA South Conference Semifinals from one year ago, where the Tornadoes knocked the Battling Bishops out of postseason play.
