Volleyball Falls in Four Sets to Methodist

Rocky Mount, NC - In a crucial USA South  matchup, the NC Wesleyan volleyball team faced off against Methodist in a thrilling four-set contest on Wednesday night. The Bishops got off to a hot start, winning the first set with a score of 25-19. However, they couldn't maintain their momentum, ultimately falling to Methodist in the subsequent sets.

First Set: The Bishops came out of the gates strong in the first set, executing tremendously on the front line. The Lady Bishops won the set convincingly with a score of 25-19, setting the tone for an exciting match. 

Subsequent Sets: Despite a promising start, the Bishops couldn't maintain their momentum in the following sets. Methodist rallied and found their groove, taking the next three sets to secure the victory. 

Key Performances:

  • Sloan Martin was a standout player for the Bishops, leading the team with an impressive total of eleven kills. In her last home game, Martin also recorded am ace.
  • Freshman Aajah Vasquez made her presence felt on the defensive end with a team-high of five blocks, showcasing her ability to defend the front line tremendously well. Furthermore, Vasquez would also have an ace for the Bishops.

Up Next: 

  • The volleyball program will be back in action on Saturday as they travel to Pfeiffer for the final game of the regular season.
