Newport News, VA - The N.C. Wesleyan men's soccer program traveled to Christopher Newport on Saturday to face a nationally ranked powerhouse in the Captains. The game would remain tied at 0-0 until a late 79th minute goal by Drew McWhinney would be enough for CNU to grab the 1-0 victory. Goalie
Rafael Farina would come up with five big saves in the contest to keep the score tied throughout the entire first half.
Game Notes:Â
- Tiago Feler would lead Wesleyan in shots with two attempts in only 39 minutes played.
- Freshman Wessell Eldering would play all 90 minutes for the Battling Bishops continuing to be a reliable force in the lineup for Mark Bowman's squad.
- Wesleyan has now played two of the top 15 teams in the nation in John's Hopkins and Christopher Newport. By only being outscored by one goal combined in the two contests, the program has one of the strongest clubs headed in the USA South.
