Raleigh, NC - On a night where a balanced score sheet saw four Battling Bishops in double-figures, the N.C. Wesleyan women's basketball program dominated the Avenging Angels 72-38. Coming off a string of impressive outings,
Johnay Goddard was the team's leading scorer with fifteen points and a rebound shy of a double-double. Rebounding continues to be a strong suit for the team as
Kayrisma Harrison tied a season high of sixteen, with the other outing coming on Thanksgiving week against William Peace.
With Harrison's twelve point double-double, it will go down in the books as her fifth of the season and second in a row. All but one Battling Bishop who saw the floor saw at least five rebounds to their credit in a statement win.
The Basics:
Score:Â N.C. Wesleyan 72, Meredith 38
Location/Venue: Raleigh, NC / Weatherspoon Gymnasium
Records:Â N.C. Wesleyan (10-9, 10-2 USA South), Meredith (7-13, 5-8 USA South)
The defensive side of the ball was a beautiful display of basketball for Wesleyan, holding Meredith to only three made shots from behind the arc and under 30% from behind the arc. Only nine Avenging Angel basketball would be assisted on, which is an impressive feat from the guard play of
Areina Harris,
Nadia Simmons, and
Deonna Adams. With the win, Wesleyan is now only a single game out of the top two of the conference with a big weekend on deck.
Up Next:
Wesleyan returns to Everett Gymnasium this weekend with a home swing that will see the Bishops face Brevard on Friday night at 7:00 and the Falcons of Pfeiffer on Saturday at 2:00.
