Box Score 2 Brevard, NC – The N.C. Wesleyan volleyball team fought hard but dropped both matches in a tri-match on Friday, falling in straight sets to both Brevard and Southern Virginia.
In the opening match against Brevard, the Bishops were edged out in heartbreaking fashion, losing 27-25 in the first two sets. The defense was strong, led by Aajah Vasquez, who contributed three of the seven Bishops blocks. The newcomers stepped up in a big way, with Shay Lunsford recording a season-high seventeen assists, while Jadyn Smith delivered an impressive 23 digs. Super senior Sloan Martin had another standout performance, leading the team with thirteen kills and ten assists for a double-double.
In the second match of the day, Wesleyan struggled to find momentum against Southern Virginia and fell again in straight sets. Martin continued to lead the fight for the Bishops, contributing four kills and thirteen digs in the contest.
