Greensboro, NC - The N.C. Wesleyan women's soccer team concluded its season on Saturday, suffering a 4-0 loss to Greensboro in the USA South Conference Tournament Quarterfinals. Entering the tournament as the #6 seed, the Battling Bishops significantly improvement this year, doubling its win total from the previous season.
The Battling Bishops had a strong mix of Senior leadership and young talent for the future on full display in 2024. Seniors
Eden Whiteside and
Mia Scherber played pivotal roles throughout the season, combining for an impressive four goals and 22 points. Their leadership on and off the field was instrumental in Wesleyan getting back to the USA South Tournament.
Additionally, the future looks bright for the Bishops with a promising Freshman class.
Makena Meyer emerged as a standout forward, leading the team in goals scored with eight and amassing a total of 19 points. Her contributions earned her conference rookie of the week accolades this season.
In goal,
Grace Walls, a freshman hailing from Moyock, NC, stepped up as the starting goalkeeper. She recorded 66 saves this season, demonstrating poise in net. Looking forward to next year, the Bishops are excited about the promising future of the underclassmen returning and the program's direction after a fantastic season.
