Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Bishops Bounce Back with Crucial USA South Win over Brevard

Rocky Mount, NC - In one of the best played games the Battling Bishops have had this season, the men's basketball team cruised to a win over Brevard by a score of 79-65. Marquis Eskew led the scoring effort for Wesleyan with seventeen points, three rebounds, and three assists.

Getting off to a scorching start, Wesleyan would make their first four field goals in the contest and forced Brevard to take an early timeout. Never looking back, the Battling Bishops would go on to have another tremendous scoring run of 12-0 in the second half to expand the lead to twenty with 18:04 remaining.

The Basics:
Score:
 N.C. Wesleyan 79, Brevard 65
Location/Venue: Rocky Mount, NC / Everett Gymnasium
Records: N.C. Wesleyan (14-10,8-5 USA South), Brevard (13-11, 8-5 USA South)

Wesleyan dominated Brevard in the paint and on the defensive front for a full forty minutes. Kyron Kelly came up big with a fourteen point, nine rebound effort including a SportsCenter Top 10 worthy put-back slam in the second half that blew the roof off Everett Gymnasium. Fellow forward Justin Burden grabbed down nine boards of his own and did a great job of being versatile and playing the perimeter if called upon.

Outrebounding the Tornados by a healthy margin of 23 and forcing Brevard to shoot 6-23 from behind the arc, Wesleyan looked like a team playing its best basketball at the right time of the season.
