Demorest, GA - The Battling Bishops hit the road for their first away game of the year as they take on the Spalding Golden Eagles. Your Bishops sat at an even 1-1 record as they headed to Loudermilk Field down in Demorest, GA. This matchup kicked off the Early Spring Piedmont tournament where the Bishops will also take on the Piedmont University Lions and the #18 ranked Chapman Panthers.

Today's thriller of a game came down to the final pitch as Spalding struck out the final Bishop with a man on third and only up one run. The Bishops started the game with a one run lead in the 4
th inning courtesy of a solo shot home run hit by senior
Davie Morgan. The Golden Eagles answered quickly as an RBI single tied the game back up at the top of the 5
th inning. Spalading would punch back in the 7th with three runs of their own off of two critical Wesleyan errors. The game started to look hopeless with one out in the bottom of the 9
th, but the Bishops rallied and found themselves back in the game in no time with multiple clutch at-bats including one from senior
Alex Moskal that got two men in scoring position in a clutch spot. Spalding pitcher Eric Wiggint stepped up and delivered a strikeout to end the game, ending the Bishop rally.

Dylan Cheeley started off the game strong holding the Golden Eagles to zero runs through the first four innings. He finished the game with six innings pitched, two earned runs, and two strikeouts.
Marc Dennunzio is someone to keep an eye on this season for the Bishops as the Junior and his teammate
Preston Workman showed flashes of a dominating bullpen to finish the game out giving the Golden Eagles no chances of expanding the lead.
