Game 1:
The Battling Bishops zoomed out the gate thanks to one of three errors by the Diplomats in the first inning. In the third,
Davie Morgan would launch his third homer of the early campaign to extend the lead to 2-0. Wesleyan would break the game open in the sixth courtesy of an RBI single from
Jaiden Barker that brought home two.
Jackson Ellyson would do the same behind him, nailing a base knock up the middle with two outs to bring home Barker and
Colin Scoggins.
In the 8th, Wesleyan put the game away as
Davie Morgan would reach on the Diplomats' fourth error on the day and
Colin Scoggins would walk in a run.
On the mound,
Cord Butler was dealing, getting the win over the course of five innings and striking out nine of eighteen batters faced. Currently, Butler leads the USA South in strikeouts and has been unhittable in his three starts this season. Coming in long relief was
Chandler Padgett, as the graduate student was extremely effective, finishing the game, striking out four, and only allowing a single hit.
Game 2:
Trailing 1-0 in the third,
Tyson Bass would launch a laser to left field for his third bomb of the year. The very next inning would see Bass give Wesleyan an insurance run, driving in
Jackson Ellyson for his second RBI of the contest.
Seth Jones would be a hero in the 7th, launching his first three-run homer of the year to secure an undefeated weekend for the Battling Bishops.
On the bump,
Andrew Tubb was dialed in, striking out twelve batters in eight innings of work and throwing the Diplomat hitters off balance with outstanding change in speeds. In the 9th,
Justin McDonald would make an appearance in a non-save situation to keep Franklin & Marshall at bay.
