Newport News VA / Rocky Mount, NC - The N.C. Wesleyan men's tennis program played two matches on Friday at Christopher Newport and at home against Pfeiffer. In both matches, the Battling Bishops cruised to easy 8-1 decisions.
In the conference opener with the Falcons, Wesleyan would sweep doubles action, including a big 8-1 victory at the #1 position by
Bernardo Messineo and
Rodrigo Montes de Oca 8-1.
In singles competition,
Bhodan Zhylchuk looked sharp at #1, cruising to an easy 6-2, 6-3 victory, while
Julian Barros would sweep the #6 slot 6-0, 6-0.
In Newport News, the Battling Bishops took on the #39 team in the country and once again took all three doubles matches.
John Falke and Logan Stolz controlled the tempo at the #2 doubles, winning 8-6, while
Andy Fanzaga and
Sean Keane were unstoppable at #3, winning a 8-2 decision.
In singles, Falke continued his dominating 2024 campaign with a 6-3, 6-0 victory and Fanzaga would do the same, winning at the #5 position 6-3, 6-1.
