Rocky Mount, NC - The N.C. Wesleyan men's tennis program cruised to a pair of 9-0 victories on Saturday against Brevard and Virginia Wesleyan. Against the Marlins, the Battling Bishops looked sharp in doubles, with
Andy Fanzaga and
Sean Keane dominating the #2 slot 8-1, while
John Falke teamed up with
Rodrigo Montes de Oca for an easy 8-2 victory at the #3 slot.
In singles play, Falke would win in straight sets at the #1 position 6-3, 6-4, while
Shori Nishizoe was impressive at #5, claiming victory in a 6-0, 6-3 decision. Other key Bishops were
Andy Fanzaga and
Albert Sitwell who claimed wins at the #3 and #4 singles slots.
Against the Tornados, Wesleyan improved to 2-0 in league play, sweeping four of the six singles matches in straight 6-0, 6-0 decisions. In doubles action,
Brody Brice and
Albert Sitwell looked strong in an 8-0 win, while
Shori Nishizoe and
Gustavo Rivas locked down the #2 doubles 8-1.
In singles,
Alfonso Zerpa,
Davide Simonini,
Julian Barros, and
Alvaro Gomez did not allow a single Tornado point, while Bernado Messineo and
Bhodan Zhylchuk dominated the #1 and #2 positions.
