Raleigh, NC - The N.C. Wesleyan softball team had a huge come from behind win to end the regular season at Meredith on Saturday. A three seed headed into the conference tournament, the Battling Bishops will travel to Greensboro for the opening round.
Game 1:
N.C. Wesleyan 2, Meredith 5
Down 5-0 headed to the 6th,
Lillie Baumbach got the offense going with a long ball to left field for the Bishop's first run of the afternoon.
Savannah Thompson would also drive in
Skyler Walker via the sac-fly for Wesleyan's final run of the contest.
On the mound,
Keira Boisvert was outstanding in relief of
Morgan Aycock, only allowing two earned runs over the course of 3.1 innings.
Game 2:
North Carolina Wesleyan 6, Meredith 5
Responding to two quick Meredith runs in the bottom of the 1st,
Aleah Jones drove in
Taylor Kelly with a triple in the gap. In the 4th,
Makayla Simmons added one more with her 5th homer of the year. Tying the game in the 5th,
Ava Lowry and
Aleah Jones came up huge with RBI knocks and would be the only runs scored until the 8th.
In extras,
Molly Alejandrino drove in the lone run of either team, singling to drive home
Hannah Rubino.
Earning the win in relief,
Keira Boisvert only allowed a single hit over the course of 4.1 frames for Wesleyan
