Greensboro, NC - The N.C. Wesleyan softball program ended its season on Friday afternoon falling to Meredith and Greensboro in the USA South Tournament. Winning 22 games and earning double-digit conference victories, the Battling Bishops earned also garnered five USA South All-Conference Selections.
Game 1:
N.C. Wesleyan 1, Meredith 2
In a pitcher's dual which saw both teams with five hits each, The Battling Bishops were led by
Morgan Aycock and
Emily Humphrey who were both outstanding in relief. Tossing 3.1 innings each, the duo only allowed three Avenging Angel hits and struck out two.
Wesleyan's lone run came in the 5th, as left fielder
Skyler Walker singled to the shortstop to send
Lillie Baumbach around to score.
Game 2:
N.C. Wesleyan 0, Greensboro 3
Not able to capitalize with runners in scoring position, the Battling Bishops would have runners on first and second in multiple innings, but just could not get them around to score. In the circle, Humphrey and Aycock were sharp once again, striking out four between the two and only allowing a single earned run.
