Meisenheimer, NC – The N.C. Wesleyan volleyball team secured its first USA South win of the season in a thrilling five-set match against Pfeiffer, before falling to Averett in a hard-fought contest to close out the tri-match on Saturday.
Match 1: N.C. Wesleyan Defeats Pfeiffer (3-2)
In the opening match against Pfeiffer, the Bishops battled through five tough sets to claim a gritty victory (25-15, 24-26, 25-19, 17-25, 15-6). With Freshmen making a huge impact, Chloe Baggett notched three of the eight Wesleyan service aces from behind the line.
Leading the way offensively for Wesleyan was Sloan Martin, who was stellar with a team-high fifteen kills and 23 assists, contributing on both ends of the court. Defensively, Fiona Egan anchored the net, tallying four key blocks to disrupt Pfeiffer's attack and help secure the win.

In the second match of the day, the Bishops faced a tough Averett squad. After dropping the first two sets, Wesleyan showed resilience by taking the third set 25-22, forcing a fourth. Aajah Vasquez was dominant at the net, putting up an incredible seven blocks to keep the Bishops competitive. Sloan Martin continued to dominate, finishing with ten kills and twenty digs, while Amber Pierce stood out from the service line, delivering four aces.
