Chicago, IL - The N.C. Wesleyan men's soccer team earned its first win of the season with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Bethel at Wheaton College on Saturday. Competing in Chicago for the first time in program history, the Bishops capitalized on a key moment in the second half to secure the win.
In the 67th minute, Nicolas Sautua broke the deadlock, netting his first goal of the season off a Wesleyan corner kick. The shot deflected off the Bethel goalkeeper, and that was all Wesleyan needed to claim the victory. The Bishops were aggressive throughout, taking 14 shots—three of which were on goal—putting consistent pressure on Bethel's defense.
