Women's Soccer Opens Road Trip, Falls to LaGrange 4-3

LaGrange, GA - The N.C. Wesleyan women's soccer team put up a valiant second-half comeback but ultimately fell 4-3 to LaGrange on Friday, kicking off the Georgia and Alabama road swing.

The Bishops found themselves in a deep hole early, trailing 3-0 at halftime. However, coming out firing in the second period, Makena Meyer scored her second goal of the season unassisted to jumpstart Wesleyan's offense. In the 83rd minute, Mia Scheber made it a one-goal game with her first goal of the season, assisted by Meyer, as Wesleyan looked to claw its way back.

Despite the surge, a LaGrange penalty kick pushed the Panthers' lead to 4-2. Eden Whiteside gave Wesleyan hope in the 87th minute, finding the back of the net off an assist from Madelyne Edwards, but it was too late to complete the comeback.
