Salem, VA - The N.C. Wesleyan volleyball team completed day two of the Maroon Classic with a pair of hard-fought matches, including a significant career milestone for super Senior
Sloan Martin.
In the opening match against Salem College, the Battling Bishops fell in straight sets, but Martin, one of the most accomplished players in program history, surpassed the 1,000 career digs mark. The Woodstock, GA native also added 15 assists, continuing to showcase her versatility as one of the top setters to ever wear a Wesleyan uniform. Kayla Simmons was a bright spot in the match, registering six kills and 23 attempts to lead Wesleyan's attack.

The Bishops bounced back in the second match of the day, playing its best volleyball of the weekend against Randolph. Wesleyan pushed the contest to four sets, winning the third set 25-15, and came within two points of forcing a decisive fifth set in a thrilling opener. The team collectively recorded an impressive 62 digs and 49 kills.
Sloan Martin, Aajah Vasquez, and Brooklynn Covic all shined offensively, each tallying over 25 attack attempts. Vasquez led the team with 10 kills, while the trio's efforts kept Wesleyan in contention throughout the match.
