Women’s Basketball Dominates Greensboro with Defensive Masterclass

Greensboro, NC - The N.C. Wesleyan women's basketball team put on a defensive clinic Tuesday night, crushing Greensboro 77-38 in a nearly 40-point blowout win. The Bishops were dominant on both ends of the court, improving to 3-2 in league play.

The Basics:
Score:
 N.C. Wesleyan 77, Greensboro 38
Location/Venue: Greensboro, NC / Hanes Gymnasium
Records: N.C. Wesleyan (6-6, 3-2 USA South), Greensboro (3-8, 1-4 USA South)

NCWU's defense was the story of the night, holding Greensboro to 23.7% from the floor. The Bishops' relentless pressure forced sixteen turnovers and completely neutralized Greensboro's perimeter attack, as the Pride failed to make a single three-pointer. Wesleyan's defense was particularly suffocating in the second half, holding Greensboro to single digits in each of the last two quarters, including a lopsided 27-5 fourth quarter.

Offensively, Wesleyan was just as impressive, shooting over 53% from the field and sinking seven three-pointers. Four Bishops reached double figures, led by forward Corynthian Williams, who paced all scorers with sixteen points and two rebounds. Guard Nadia Simmons delivered a solid all-around game with eleven points and four rebounds in just 23 minutes.

Newcomer Iyania Evans continued her strong debut season, dominating in the paint with eleven points and seven rebounds, while also knocking down three free throws. Harmony Martin added a spark from beyond the arc, hitting two three-pointers and going 4-for-4 from the free-throw line to finish with twelve points.
