Rome, GA - After a breakout performance in a conference rivalry game, North Carolina Wesleyan freshman quarterback
Braylon Knapp has been named the USA South Football Offensive Rookie of the Week, the league announced Monday.
Knapp, a native of Perquimans, North Carolina, led the Bishops to a dominant 48-17 victory over Methodist, tossing four touchdown passes and showing poise beyond his years in just his first collegiate season.
The first-year signal caller completed 9 of 16 passes for 183 yards, connecting with multiple receivers to keep the Monarchs' defense on its heels. Knapp also added nineteen rushing yards on four carries, extending plays and sustaining drives with his mobility.
