Women's Basketball Battles but Drops Second Conference Game to Pfeiffer

Rocky Mount, NC - The North Carolina Wesleyan women's basketball team battled throughout but came up just short in a 52–48 loss to Pfeiffer on Saturday evening inside Everett Gymnasium. The matchup marked Wesleyan's second USA South contest of the season, dropping the Bishops to 1–6 overall and 0–2 in league play.

Pfeiffer opened strong with a 15–7 first-quarter lead before the Bishops responded with a 17-point second frame to pull within 30–24 at halftime. Wesleyan continued to chip away, outscoring the Falcons 14–9 in the third quarter to make it a one-possession game heading into the fourth. A back-and-forth final period featured four lead changes, but Pfeiffer's late scoring run proved to be the difference.

Anaya Hall delivered another standout performance for the Bishops, finishing with sixteen points, six rebounds, and two steals while shooting 7-of-11 from the field. Dorinda Jordan was a force inside, posting eleven points and a game-high seventeen rebounds. Kieara Hughes added seven points and four assists, while Alexandria Belton contributed four points and two rebounds.

Despite being held without a three-pointer (0-for-10), the Bishops stayed close by attacking the paint and winning the free-throw battle, shooting 10-of-14 from the line. Wesleyan also outrebounded the Falcons 40–42 and forced twenty turnovers, converting them into seventeen points. However, Pfeiffer capitalized on transition opportunities and outscored the Bishops 38–32 in the paint and 17–13 on the break.

Pfeiffer (6–2, 4–0 USA South) was paced by Nyree Bell's eleven points, while Miya Horton and Kaileigh Gunter chipped in nine each. Key defensive stops and a late three-pointer from Lettie Michael helped the Falcons escape with the road win.
