Franklin Springs GA / Buena Vista, VA - The No. 24-ranked N.C. Wesleyan men's tennis team secured two victories on Tuesday, defeating Emmanuel College 4-3 and sweeping Southern Virginia University 7-0 in a dominant doubleheader performance.
Match 1: N.C. Wesleyan 4, Emmanuel 3
In a tightly contested battle against Emmanuel, the Battling Bishops started strong by winning two of three doubles matches to secure the opening point. The duo of Luca Knese and Albert Sitwell earned a 6-4 win at No. 1 doubles, while Logan Stoltz and Shori Nishizoe dominated their opponents 6-3 at No. 2.
Knese led the way in singles action with a clutch three-set victory at No. 1, rallying to defeat Murilo Martins 6-7, 6-3, 7-5. Stoltz and Brody Brice also delivered straight-set victories at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively, to clinch the win for Wesleyan.
Match 2: N.C. Wesleyan 7, Southern Virginia 0
The Bishops cruised past Southern Virginia in a clean 7-0 sweep. Wesleyan dominated doubles play, winning all three matches with commanding performances from Bohdan Zhylchuk and Bernardo Messineo at No. 1, Tshepo Mosarwa and Martin Cardestig at No. 2, and Francesco Raparo and Rafhael Gastelu at No. 3.
In singles, the Bishops controlled the courts, winning all six matches in straight sets. Zhylchuk led the charge with a 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 1, while Messineo posted a flawless 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 2. Mosarwa, Cardestig, Alvaro Gomez, and Raparo rounded out the lineup with decisive wins, securing a perfect performance for Wesleyan.
