Cary, NC - N.C. Wesleyan lacrosse battled against William Peace on Saturday morning but ultimately fell 9-5 in a road contest.
The Bishops started strong, keeping pace with the Pacers in the first half. After William Peace jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, Maxima Iglesias put Wesleyan on the board with an unassisted goal at the 10:59 mark of the first quarter. Nicole Triassi and Alaska Evans each added goals in the second quarter, helping the Bishops cut the deficit to 6-4 at halftime.
Despite a strong defensive effort, Wesleyan was held scoreless in the third quarter, while William Peace extended its lead. Evans struck again in the fourth quarter with a player-up goal to make it 7-5, but the Pacers responded with two late goals to secure the victory.
Evans and Triassi led the Bishops' attack with two goals each, while Iglesias added one goal and an assist. Defensively, Wesleyan worked to contain William Peace's Mary Langer, who tallied a game-high six goals.
