Claremont, CA / Staunton, VA – The No. 24-ranked N.C. Wesleyan men's tennis team faced a challenging doubleheader on Saturday, falling to No. 11 Trinity (TX) 7-0 before bouncing back with a dominant 7-0 sweep over Mary Baldwin University.
Match 1: No. 11 Trinity (TX) 7, No. 24 N.C. Wesleyan 0
Facing a strong Trinity squad, the Bishops fought hard but were unable to overcome the nationally ranked Tigers.
In doubles play, Wesleyan's No. 3 duo of Brody Brice and Logan Stoltz secured a 6-4 victory to keep the Bishops in contention, but Trinity took wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles to claim the doubles point.
In singles competition, Diego Segovia put up a fight at No. 1 but ultimately fell 6-2, 6-4 to Jared Perry. Luca Knese, playing at No. 2, also showed resilience but dropped his match 6-3, 6-3. Bohdan Zhylchuk (No. 3) battled to a close first set before falling 7-5, 6-1.
The most competitive matches came at No. 4 and No. 5 singles, where both Albert Sitwell and Bernardo Messineo forced deciding third sets but ultimately fell short in tiebreakers. Trinity secured straight-set wins at No. 6 to complete the sweep.

The Bishops rebounded in emphatic fashion in Staunton, VA, blanking Mary Baldwin without dropping a single set.
Wesleyan dominated in doubles, with the No. 1 team of Tshepo Mosarwa and Rafhael Gastelu rolling to a 6-1 win, while the duos of David Simonini / Francesco Raparo and Julian Pfefferman / Eustaquio Gavira each secured 6-0 victories to clinch the point.
In singles action, the Bishops continued the commanding performance. Mosarwa set the tone at No. 1 with a 6-1, 6-0 victory, and Gastelu followed with a flawless 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 2. Bernardo Rojas, Juan Pablo Salgado, Pfefferman, and Gavira all cruised to straight-set victories, capping off a dominant showing.
