Staunton, VA - The North Carolina Wesleyan women's tennis team delivered a dominant performance on Saturday, shutting out Mary Baldwin 7-0 on the road to secure its first victory of the season.
The Bishops (1-5) were in full control from start to finish, sweeping both doubles and singles play without dropping a set.
In doubles action, Wesleyan wasted no time setting the tone. The pairing of Bethan Fothergill and Renata Torres blanked their opponents 6-0 at the No. 1 spot, while Andrea Elaez Miranda and Ivanna Torres mirrored that result at No. 2. Ajla Selimovic and Melanie Guzman Gonzalez completed the sweep with another 6-0 win at No. 3 doubles.
The Bishops carried the momentum into singles, winning all six matches in straight sets. Elaez Miranda led the charge at No. 1 singles with a commanding 6-0, 6-0 victory, while Fothergill followed with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 2. Ivanna Torres (6-1, 6-0), Renata Torres (6-0, 6-0), Selimovic (6-0, 6-0), and Guzman Gonzalez (6-0, 6-0) completed the sweep to seal the dominant performance.
