Box Score Misenheimer, NC - The N.C. Wesleyan women's tennis team earned a decisive 5-2 victory over Pfeiffer on Wednesday afternoon at the Knapp Tennis Center, securing its second straight USA South win.
The Bishops (2-5, 2-0 USA South) set the tone early by taking two of the three doubles matches. The duo of Bethan Fothergill and Ivanna Torres dominated at No. 1 doubles with a 6-2 win, while Andrea Elaez Miranda and Renata Torres secured a 6-4 victory at No. 2 doubles. Pfeiffer managed to claim the No. 3 doubles match, but Wesleyan carried a 2-1 lead into singles play.
In singles competition, the Bishops continued to shine. Andrea Elaez Miranda cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 1 singles, while Ivanna Torres posted a commanding 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 3. Fothergill battled through a three-set match at No. 2 singles, ultimately prevailing 6-2, 1-6, 6-3 to clinch the match for Wesleyan. Melanie Guzman Gonzalez added to the Bishops' success with a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 6 singles.
