Buena Vista, V.A. - The NC Wesleyan women's tennis team delivered a dominant performance on April 17, sweeping Southern Virginia University 7-0 on the road at the Tennis Complex.
The Bishops set the tone early by sweeping all three doubles matches to secure the opening point. Bethan Fothergill and Renata Torres led the way with a 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles, while Andrea Elaez Miranda and Ivanna Torres followed with a 6-1 victory at No. 2. Ajla Selimovic and Peyton McGahey completed the sweep with a 6-0 decision at No. 3 doubles.
NC Wesleyan carried that momentum into singles play, winning all six matches in straight sets. Andrea Elaez Miranda controlled the No. 1 singles court with a 6-2, 6-0 win, and Bethan Fothergill followed with a 6-3, 6-3 victory at No. 2. Ivanna Torres added another dominant performance at No. 3, winning 6-0, 6-1.
Renata Torres secured a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 4, while Ajla Selimovic delivered a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 5. BreAnn Ferguson closed out the match with a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 6.
With the win, NC Wesleyan showcased its depth and control across the lineup, sweeping every court to secure the 7-0 team victory and continue its strong run late in the season.
