Greensboro, NC - The N.C. Wesleyan women's lacrosse team continued to show heart and hustle on Saturday afternoon as the Battling Bishops fell to Greensboro College 22-3 in USA South action at Pride Field.
Despite the final score, the Bishops found bright spots throughout the game with offensive production from Alaska Evans and Maxima Iglesias. Evans led Wesleyan with two goals, including a man-up finish in the fourth quarter, while Iglesias recorded a goal and an assist to go along with a team-high five ground balls and five draw controls.
Wesleyan also had a solid performance in the net from Jillian Stine, who turned away twelve shots across all four quarters and helped limit Greensboro's shooting efficiency, especially in the second half.
The Bishops saw its strongest draw control performance of the season, earning a 15-14 edge over the Pride in the circle—highlighting the team's effort and intensity from the first whistle to the final horn.
Freshman defender Alina Smith contributed with three ground balls and a caused turnover, while senior midfielder Bri Garcia added four draw controls and forced a turnover of her own, showcasing the defensive grittiness that has become a hallmark of the team.
