Rocky Mount, NC - The North Carolina Wesleyan softball team saw its 2025 season come to a close on Thursday afternoon, falling in back-to-back games to No. 20 nationally-ranked Pfeiffer in the USA South Championship Series at Jack Ingram Field.
In game one, Pfeiffer (34-7) used timely sacrifice flies and small-ball execution to score single runs in four different innings, handing the Bishops a 4-0 loss. Wesleyan (29-15) managed four hits in the contest, including a 2-for-3 performance from freshman shortstop Ava Lowry, but struggled to string anything together against All-Conference pitcher Emma Bullin, who earned her 28th win with a complete-game shutout.
Morgan Aycock (12-6) took the loss in the circle, allowing four earned runs on seven hits across 5.1 innings of work before giving way to Keira Boisvert in relief.
In the second game, with their season on the line, the Bishops again fell victim to a dominant outing from Bullin, who tossed another complete-game shutout in a 4-0 Pfeiffer win. Despite recording seven hits and threatening in several innings, Wesleyan left ten runners on base and was unable to capitalize.
Offensively, Skyler Walker went 2-for-3 and added a stolen base, while Kyiah Simmons, Ragan Holloman, Frances Hanshew, Alexis Whitfield, and Ava Lowry each tallied a hit.
Defensively, a pair of delayed double steals by the Falcons, including two steals of home, proved costly. Emily Humphrey (11-5) took the loss after allowing four earned runs across 6.1 innings before Boisvert once again closed out the game.
