Rocky Mount, NC - The N.C. Wesleyan football team dropped a non-conference contest to Sewanee on Saturday afternoon, 33–0, at Vernon T. Bradley Stadium. The Tigers (2–1) scored on their opening possession and carried a 26–0 lead into halftime, while a balanced rushing attack and a disruptive defense kept the Bishops (2–1) off the board.
Sewanee struck first just 2:46 into the game on a 40-yard touchdown run from Jacorin Thomas, then extended the margin late in the first on a two-yard score to make it 12–0. The Tigers added two more touchdowns in the second quarter—a 15-yard Thomas run and a 4-yard pass from Barton Mixon to Cooper Alford—for a 26–0 advantage at the break. Mixon capped a 10-play, 71-yard march with a 6-yard keeper late in the third for the final points.
Wesleyan's best scoring chance came midway through the third quarter. Nahir Seagraves powered the offense into the red zone, but a chop-block penalty and a sack pushed the drive back, and a 46-yard field-goal try sailed wide.
Seagraves paced the Bishops with 138 rushing yards on 21 carries (6.6 per attempt). Tyson Resper led the receiving corps with seven catches for 63 yards. Quarterback Braylon Knapp went 8-for-17 for 63 yards, while Colten Newsom finished 4-for-9 for 20 yards and added a 27-yard rush early in the first quarter. Punter Braxtyn Green averaged 37.0 yards on seven punts with a long of 57. Linebacker Mathias Winston recorded a team-high seven tackles; Andrew Brown added seven total stops with three tackles for loss, and Eric Cooper posted a nine-yard sack.
Sewanee finished with 481 yards of total offense, including 325 on the ground. Thomas totaled 113 rushing yards and two scores and was 11-for-13 passing for 128 yards.
