Rocky Mount N.C. - The NC Wesleyan men's tennis team battled through four matches on February 14 against Belmont Abbey in Rocky Mount, showcasing resilience and depth throughout a full day of competition.
In the opening match of the day, the Bishops fell 5-2 despite strong individual performances. NC Wesleyan picked up a key doubles victory at No. 3 as Diego Villafane and David Edjerholm secured a 7-6 win. In singles play, Alvaro Gomez delivered a straight-set victory at No. 3 (7-6, 6-4), while Diego Villafane added another point with a 7-6, 6-3 win at No. 5, highlighting the Bishops' competitive fight throughout the lineup.
The second contest proved to be a tightly contested 4-3 battle. NC Wesleyan earned a doubles point at No. 3 behind Adam Singleton and Diego Villafane's 6-3 victory. In singles action, Indrek Raudkivi dominated at No. 4 with a 6-3, 6-4 win, Alvaro Gomez rallied for a three-set victory at No. 5 (7-6, 6-1), and Diego Villafane clinched his match in dramatic fashion at No. 6, winning in three sets (4-6, 6-2, 7-6).
