Wesleyan Battles Back After Halftime vs. Brevard

Rocky Mount, N.C. - The N.C. Wesleyan University women's lacrosse team returned home on February 24 but fell to Brevard College, 13-8, in USA South action. Despite the final score, the Battling Bishops showed resilience after a tough opening half, outscoring Brevard 7-3 over the final two quarters.

Maxima Iglesias powered the Wesleyan offense, finishing with six goals and one assist while firing a game-high 18 shots. Nicole Triassi added two goals, including a third-quarter score off an assist from Iglesias that helped spark the Bishops' comeback effort. Wesleyan generated 26 total shots and placed 21 on goal, consistently pressuring the Brevard defense throughout the contest.

After trailing 10-1 at halftime, Wesleyan found its rhythm in the third quarter. Iglesias scored three consecutive goals during a key stretch to cut into the deficit, and Triassi added a late-period finish to bring the Bishops within striking distance. The momentum carried into the fourth quarter as Wesleyan added three more goals, including a free-position conversion from Iglesias and a strong unassisted finish from Triassi.

Defensively, the Bishops matched Brevard with 12 ground balls and forced 27 total turnovers by the Tornados. Goalkeeper Elizabeth Daniels played all 60 minutes in net as Wesleyan continued to compete until the final whistle.

N.C. Wesleyan will look to build on its second-half momentum as the conference schedule continues.
