Strong All-Around Effort Lifts Wesleyan Past Guilford

The NC Wesleyan women's tennis team delivered a strong performance on February 25, earning a commanding 6-1 road victory over Guilford College at the McMichael Courts in Greensboro.

After dropping the No. 1 doubles match, the Bishops responded by securing the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3. Ivanna Torres and Andrea Elaez Miranda rolled to a 6-1 victory at No. 2 doubles, while BreAnn Ferguson and Ajla Selimovic dominated 6-0 at No. 3 to give Wesleyan early momentum.

In singles play, NC Wesleyan took control by winning five of the six matches. Bethan Fothergill earned a hard-fought three-set victory at No. 2 singles, rallying for a 7-6, 4-6, 10-4 win. Ivanna Torres was strong at No. 3 with a straight-set 6-1, 6-0 decision, and Renata Torres followed with a 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 4. Ajla Selimovic shut out her opponent 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5, while Peyton McGahey closed the day with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 6.

The Bishops' depth and consistency throughout the lineup proved to be the difference, as Wesleyan secured the 6-1 team victory in impressive fashion. The performance showcased NC Wesleyan's strength across the courts as they continue to build momentum in the spring season.
