Virginia Beach, V.A. - The NC Wesleyan women's tennis team delivered an impressive performance on March 30, defeating Virginia Wesleyan 6-1 in a strong all-around showing.
The Bishops jumped out to an early lead in doubles play, securing the doubles point with a dominant 6-0 victory at No. 1 doubles from Bethan Fothergill and Renata Torres. Despite dropping the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles matches, Wesleyan carried momentum into singles play.
NC Wesleyan took control in singles, winning five of the six matches to seal the team victory. Bethan Fothergill led the way at No. 1 singles with a hard-fought three-set comeback win, while Ivanna Torres followed with a three-set victory at No. 2. Renata Torres added a straight-set win at No. 3, and Ajla Selimovic battled back for a three-set victory at No. 4.
BreAnn Ferguson delivered a strong performance at No. 5 with a 6-0, 6-4 win, and Peyton McGahey closed out the match with a 6-4, 6-4 victory at No. 6.
With the win, NC Wesleyan showcased resilience and depth throughout the lineup, using a strong singles performance to secure the 6-1 team victory and continue building momentum in the spring season.
