Rocky Mount, N.C. - The NC Wesleyan women's tennis team delivered a dominant performance on April 1, sweeping Meredith College 7-0 at the Slick Family Foundation Tennis Center.
The Bishops set the tone early by sweeping all three doubles matches in convincing fashion. Andrea Elaez Miranda and Bethan Fothergill led the way with a 6-0 win at No. 1 doubles, while Ajla Selimovic and Candela Sanchez matched that result with a 6-0 victory at No. 2. BreAnn Ferguson and Peyton McGahey completed the doubles sweep with another 6-0 decision at No. 3, giving Wesleyan full control heading into singles play.
NC Wesleyan carried that momentum into singles competition, winning all six matches in straight sets. Bethan Fothergill dominated at No. 1 singles with a 6-0, 6-0 victory, and Ivanna Torres followed with another shutout win at No. 2. Ajla Selimovic secured a 6-1, 6-1 result at No. 3, while Peyton McGahey added a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 4.
Mariel Rojas contributed a strong 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 5, and Candela Sanchez closed out the sweep with a 6-0, 6-0 performance at No. 6.
With the win, NC Wesleyan showcased its depth and dominance across the lineup, controlling every court to secure the 7-0 team victory and continue its strong play in the spring season.
