Wilson, N.C. - The NC Wesleyan men's tennis team earned a strong 5-2 road victory over Barton College on April 14 at the Michalak Tennis Complex.
After dropping the No. 1 doubles match, the Bishops responded to secure the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3. Alexander Kohlhaas and Julian Valverde delivered a 6-4 victory at No. 2 doubles, while Alvaro Gomez and David Edjerholm followed with a 6-3 win at No. 3 to give Wesleyan the early edge.
In singles play, NC Wesleyan won four of the six matches to seal the team victory. Alvaro Gomez led the way at No. 3 singles with a dominant 6-3, 6-0 performance, while Julian Valverde battled back after dropping the first set to earn a three-set victory at No. 4.
Alexander Kohlhaas added another point with a 6-3, 7-5 win at No. 5, and David Edjerholm closed out the match with a 6-0, 6-3 victory at No. 6.
Despite tough matches at the top of the lineup, the Bishops' depth proved to be the difference, as NC Wesleyan secured the 5-2 win and continued to build momentum late in the season.
