Bishops Take Down Randolph-Macon on the Road

Ashland, V.A. - N.C. Wesleyan earned a strong 6-4 road victory over Randolph-Macon on Wednesday afternoon at Hugh Stephens Field, using timely hitting and a dominant pitching effort to secure the win. The Battling Bishops totaled eight hits and drew nine walks while controlling the game in key moments.

Wesleyan struck first in the opening inning when Kyle Brazaeu delivered an RBI double to score Schumata Brown and give the Bishops an early 1-0 lead. After Randolph-Macon answered with two runs in the third, Wesleyan responded in the fifth as Jackson Ellyson came around to score on a wild pitch to even the game at 2-2. The Bishops then regained the lead in the sixth when Caleb Elias drove in a run with an RBI single, putting Wesleyan ahead 3-2.

The decisive moment came in the seventh inning when Wesleyan plated three runs to break the game open. Maison Nance scored on an error before Jake Flowers delivered a clutch two-RBI double to extend the lead to 6-2. Randolph-Macon threatened late with a pair of runs in the eighth, but the Bishops held firm down the stretch.
