Wesleyan Wraps Up 2026 Season at Conference Tournament

Greensboro, N.C. - N.C. Wesleyan closed out its 2026 season in the USA South Conference Tournament with an 11-5 loss to Greensboro on Thursday evening, capping off a hard-fought year for the Battling Bishops. Wesleyan struck early and showed resilience throughout, finishing with seven hits while competing against a strong Greensboro lineup.

The Bishops jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second inning as Marlon Bowen and Aydin Zimmerman each singled before Drew Krause drove in a run with a sacrifice fly and Zimmerman later scored on a steal of home. Wesleyan added another run in the fifth when Banks Hartman delivered an RBI double to score Krause, giving the Bishops a 3-2 advantage. After Greensboro responded with a big middle innings surge, Wesleyan continued to battle, adding two more runs in the seventh behind a two-RBI double from Hartman to cut into the deficit.

Hartman led the offense with two doubles and three RBIs, while Krause added a hit and an RBI. Bowen, Zimmerman, Jake Flowers, and Travis Gamache each contributed hits as the Bishops showed fight throughout the contest. On the mound, Drake Hobgood got the start before Caleb Dennis, Sam Johnson, and Preston Workman worked in relief against a high-powered Greensboro offense.

While the result did not go their way, the game marked the final chapter of a memorable season for N.C. Wesleyan. The Battling Bishops showed growth, resilience, and competitiveness throughout the year, highlighted by key conference wins and a series victory on the road at Methodist. The program also celebrates its seniors, whose leadership, dedication, and impact have helped shape the culture of NC Wesleyan Baseball. Their contributions on and off the field leave a lasting mark, and they will be an important part of the program's continued success moving forward.
