Sean Grande

North Carolina Wesleyan football is pleased to welcome Sean Grande to the Battling Bishops coaching staff as an assistant coach. Grande brings a strong academic background, coaching experience at the collegiate level, and a passion for developing student-athletes on and off the field.

A current graduate student at Salisbury University, Grande is pursuing his master’s degree in Conflict Analysis and Dispute Resolution. During his time with the Sea Gulls, he served as a graduate assistant football coach, working primarily with the running backs while also assisting as a special teams analyst. In 2024, Grande helped guide Salisbury to a 12-1 record, New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) championship, and an appearance in the NCAA Quarterfinals.

Grande’s responsibilities at Salisbury included leading position meetings, managing drills and player development, creating weekly scouting reports, and contributing to offensive and special teams game planning. He was also active in recruiting, covering key areas in New Jersey and managing transfer portal communications, while assisting in the organization of prospect camps both on campus and at various regional sites.

A native of Virginia, Grande earned his bachelor’s degree in Political Science with a minor in Media and Communication from Ferrum College, graduating magna cum laude. While at Ferrum, he was a member of the football team and received multiple academic honors, including the Boone Honors Program recognition and the Franklin Benjamin Hurt Award for Outstanding Student. He was also a two-time ODAC All-Academic honoree as a student-athlete.

“Sean is a rising star in this profession,” said head coach Jeff Filkovski. “His attention to detail, work ethic, and ability to connect with student-athletes stood out immediately. He brings valuable experience from a winning program, and we’re excited about the energy and knowledge he adds to our staff here at North Carolina Wesleyan.”

Grande’s well-rounded coaching background, combined with his leadership skills and recruiting experience, will support the continued growth and success of the Battling Bishop football program.
