A Graduate Student offensive linemen from Rocky Mount High School, Desmond Barnes has been named a captain for the 2024 season. A member of the NCWU President's List, Barnes was selected to the USA South All-Academic Team.

A first-team all-conference selection in 2023, his favorite athlete is Trent Williams and he enjoys working out in his free time.
