Skyler Walker is in her first season as an assistant coach for the Battling Bishops softball program. Entering her first season on the coaching staff, Skyler brings a wealth of playing experience and a strong defensive mindset to the team. Graduated from North Carolina Wesleyan with her Bachelors of Science in Exercise Science.
During her four-year career at NCWU, Skyler was a four-year starter in the outfield, making her mark as the program’s career stolen base leader with 81 total and the single-season record holder with 33 in her senior campaign. She was recognized as the 2022 Rookie of the Week, earned All-Conference Second Team honors in 2023, and All-Conference First Team honors in 2024. She was also part of the 2025 team who had the 2nd most wins in program history and advanced to the Conference Tournament Title Game.Â
As a senior, Skyler posted a .356 batting average, scoring 41 runs on 53 hits with a .423 slugging percentage, and a .417 on-base percentage. Across 160 career games, she recorded a .336 batting average, 170 hits, 22 doubles, 15 triples, 4 home runs, and 81 stolen bases—cementing her as one of the most versatile and impactful players in program history.
Defensively, Skyler’s quick reads, range, and consistency made her a dependable leader in the outfield. Her defensive consistency is reflected in her .954 career fielding percentage and reputation as a dependable leader in the outfield.
Before her collegiate career, Skyler excelled at John T. Hoggard High School, where she helped lead her team to a 2019 4A N.C. State Championship appearance as a sophomore and later to a 2021 4A State Championship Title as a senior.
With her strong playing background and passion for the game, she hopes to help make an impact to the Battling Bishops softball program.
